City of Whitesburg Announces Architect Selection for Daniel Boone Hotel Renovation
Whitesburg, KY January 2026 — Mayor Tiffany Craft and the City of Whitesburg is proud to announce the selection of Joseph & Joseph Architects of Lexington, Kentucky, as the architectural firm for the long-anticipated renovation of the Daniel Boone Hotel contingent upon successful contract negotiations.
Originally constructed in the 1920s, the Daniel Boone Hotel has stood as a symbol of Whitesburg’s history and potential. After more than a decade of planning and pursuit, the City is moving forward thanks to critical funding support from the Kentucky General Assembly, which made the hiring of an architect possible.
Joseph & Joseph Architects brings extensive experience in historic rehabilitation and community-centered design. The project is expected to create new lodging and retail opportunities while preserving the character and legacy of one of Whitesburg’s most iconic buildings.
“Joseph & Joseph Architects is honored to be selected for the renovation of the Daniel Boone Hotel,” said Ian McHone of the firm. “We recognize the significance of this historic landmark for the community, and we look forward to helping restore it in a way that supports the city with new lodging and retail opportunities while strengthening civic pride.”
“This is a milestone moment for Whitesburg,” said the Mayor Craft “The Daniel Boone Hotel has been part of our story for generations. Today, we take a major step toward giving it new life, one that honors our past while investing in our future.”
Further updates will be shared as the project moves into the design phase.
