Better Together!
Pine Mountain Partnership and Letcher County Chamber of Commerce are joining forces!
A business community that is connected to each other, to their local governments, to resources that help their business grow. That is what a chamber of commerce and an economic development organization are for.
It was a natural fit for PMP and LC-CoC to come together and move forcefully in the same direction, tackling industrial recruitment, business retention and expansion, and small business development all at once.
Joining a chamber of commerce can boost sales and significantly improve a local business' visibility and credibility. According to a study by The Schapiro Group, 63% of customers are more likely to use the goods or services of a business that belongs to a local chamber.
“We are incredibly excited to bring this conduit of learning, collaboration, networking, and marketing to the businesses in Letcher County. We have partnerships with agencies across the state that provide either free or low-cost services to local businesses and we can’t wait to give our local entrepreneurs a chance to get connected with those resources.” Said Jeffery Justice, Executive Director of Pine Mountain Partnership.
Current Chamber President Duran Sparkman said the following - “The future of the Letcher County small business market is before us, ready to be pushed forward toward a stronger shop local mindset, and ready to promote new business opportunities!”
Mr. Sparkman will take an advisory role on a volunteer basis as the chamber gets its foundational membership established.
“This strategic partnership is one that will move the business community of Letcher County forward. We have taken examples of Economic Development Organizations from all over the country to build this concept that although new to Letcher County, is an effective way to manage economic growth in a community.” Said Justice
A special thank you goes to Duran Sparkman for his leadership as the Chamber transitioned after the passing of long-time President Joe DePriest. We are glad to work together to honor Joe’s legacy!
